In this week's newsletter, I'm excited to share a special feature on my favorite AI tools, a topic I'll be presenting at the upcoming NJECC conference. These innovative resources have become a huge part of my daily routine, enhancing both my professional practices and the learning experiences I design for others.
ChatGPT -A cornerstone of my digital toolkit, ChatGPT is indispensable for a variety of tasks - from drafting social media posts and refining my writing, to generating book recommendations and crafting titles for professional development presentations. Although I subscribe to the Premium version, the free offering is equally impressive.
MagicSchool.Ai -I have written about it a few times in this newsletter, but it is worth repeating what a great tool this is for educators. From their AI-resistant assignment idea generator to the parent email feature, the lesson plan generator, to the rubric maker, it is a game changer for anyone who works in education
Curipod - While still evolving, Curipod offers valuable starting points for lesson creation, complete with editable slides and interactive elements. Despite its current limitations, such as the inability to link to external websites and a less intuitive interface, its potential for enhancing classroom engagement is undeniable.
Diffit - I showed this to my ESL teacher and she was blown away especially because it is easy to translate text into other languages. This platform is a treasure trove for creating and customizing instructional materials, ensuring accessibility and personalization for diverse student needs without the associated costs of similar platforms.
DALL-E- The capabilities of AI in image generation are vividly demonstrated through DALL-E, producing stunning visuals from simple text prompts. However, it's wise to steer clear of requests involving text, as AI struggles with spelling accuracy in images.
Grammarly - A game-changer in grammar and writing instruction, Grammarly's advanced features, including AI-driven suggestions and tone analysis, are indispensable for writers at all levels, especially from middle school onwards.
Canva -My go-to for creating vibrant social media content, posters, and presentations, Canva's ease of use and robust features make it a staple in my daily routine. Educators can access premium accounts for free, further enriched by recent AI integrations like Text to Image and Magic Write.
Research Rabbit - Dubbed the 'Spotify for Research,' this platform enables users to curate research "playlists" that update automatically with the latest findings on selected topics. It's an invaluable resource for AP students and college researchers, committed to remaining free.
ChatPDF - Revolutionizing the way we interact with PDFs, ChatPDF offers a chat-like interface for summarizing, querying, and deriving insights from documents, streamlining the reading process and enhancing comprehension.
Hello History - I wrote about this tool previously but it’s worth reminding people about it again. It is a unique tool that allows users to engage in conversations with historical figures, Hello History leverages GPT-4 technology to offer immersive experiences with personalities like Cleopatra and Einstein. It's a fascinating way to explore history, philosophy, and science, with new figures added regularly.
These AI tools have not only simplified various aspects of my work but have also opened up new avenues for creative and educational endeavors. I'm eager to delve into each of these resources further during my presentation at NJECC, and I hope you find them as transformative as I have.
This is a great list. It looks like I have some exploring to do. Thanks for sharing.
