Help save librarian jobs in my district - including potentially mine & some Great Ideas from Edutopia
URGENT REQUEST FOR HELP
On Friday the teachers in the Township of Union School District were informed by our union that the district is trying to do the following:
For librarians, this means less instructional time with students and the potential loss of at least one library position. Since I was the last one hired, there is a chance that even though I am the High School librarian, I could lose my job.

In this week’s Newsletter, we focus on three articles from Edutopia that highlight several ways that AI can be integrated into educational settings.
I hope that you will take the ideas and bring them back to your classroom or library.
Enhancing 'Do Now' Activities: AI tools like ChatGPT can design brief, engaging activities that kick-start class sessions. These activities are tailored to spark students' interest and prepare them for the day’s lessons, effectively utilizing time and encouraging active participation. More on this approach can be found here.
Streamlining Routine Tasks: ChatGPT can assist teachers by taking over repetitive tasks such as lesson planning, material preparation, and routine communication. This not only saves valuable time but also allows educators to focus more on direct student interaction and personalized teaching strategies. Discover the various ways teachers can benefit from AI here.
Facilitating Special Education: AI's capability to aid in drafting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) is a significant advancement. It helps streamline the documentation process, reducing the administrative load while allowing educators to concentrate more on meeting the individual needs of students with disabilities. This ensures a more focused and effective approach to special education. Learn more about this application of AI here.
By integrating AI tools, educators can enhance their teaching methods and operational efficiency, leading to a more dynamic and supportive learning environment for all students.
