We all know that students within the same grade don’t all have the same level of reading proficiency. For years the best solution for finding texts at differentiated levels was Newsela, an excellent resource albeit one with considerable cost implications. The cost is often unfeasible for many schools and educators.
The advent of generative AI technology has made the process of differentiating text based on reading levels, so much easier and accessible. One of my favorite technologies that does this is Diffit. I love it because of its ease of use, cost-effectiveness (it's free), and the rapid, high-quality results it delivers. Remarkably, Diffit also offers the capability to translate text into multiple languages, making it an invaluable resource for educators across various disciplines.
I strongly recommend introducing this tool to all your teacher friends but especially your special education teachers, as its functionality is particularly beneficial in tailoring reading materials to diverse learning needs. They are likely to find it a valuable addition to their teaching resources.
Here are some of the things it can do:
And here is a quick video that shows you some of its features and how to use it.
Let me know your thoughts on Diffit and also how you are using it with your students.
Thanks Elissa, this looks like an amazing resource. I am sharing your post on my Three Thoughts for your Week, next week 😊.
