The International Society of Tech Educators (ISTE) is a fantastic educational resource. With the infusion of ASCD, it has become an excellent place for quality professional development and learning. Even though I teach the Future Ready Librarians Course for ISTE occasionally, I am not getting paid anything to push their PD. It’s perfect, and you leave with ways to implement it into the classroom/library quickly. Here are just a few of the many excellent resources from them.
ISTE AI Exploration Website:
This website is packed with so much great information I don’t even know where to begin. From free practical guides for engaging students in AI creation for elementary, secondary, elective, and computer sciences teachers to AI Ethics Guides. From a Leader’s Guide to AI to blog posts, case studies, podcasts, and more. This website is a great starting point for any educator or librarian learning more about AI.
ISTE U AI Course:
This summer, I decided to take the ISTE U Artificial Intelligence Course. It is a self-paced course, and I have learned so much so far, and I am only two weeks into it. The course description is as follows, and I recommend it for anyone looking for ways to learn more about AI:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer the stuff of the future; today's students can expect to interact with AI in both their personal and professional lives. To prepare students for success, educators need to understand how AI technologies can be leveraged to facilitate learning and solve real-world problems.
In Artificial Intelligence Explorations and Their Practical Use in Schools, you’ll learn to identify the various types of AI, hear about AI technologies on the horizon and build some of your own tools to make AI concrete and accessible for you and your students.
This is a 15-hour, self-paced course with ongoing instructor support. No previous knowledge of AI or experience coding is required.
Here is more information:
Course Length: 15 hours
Cost: $186 Member / $249 Non-member
Course Style: asynchronous with instructor
